Sad day for Thailand. พรรคก้าวไกล (Move Forward Party / Progress Party) was dissolved on order of the Thai courts. They won the 2023 election but never actually came into power as the senate at the time refused to endorse the leader as prime minister.
All of this was done on the basis of a campaign promise to amend article 112 to allow for criticism of the royal family. I feel terrible for my Thai friends. The executives of the party are banned from politics for the next 10 years.
With all that being said there is a glimmer of hope. A new party will be announced this Friday. I'd argue that this new party would likely win the next election as long as they don't make that same campaign promise (just need to be hush-hush and amend 112 after they're in power).
The best article on the matter is from the Thai PBS. There is no direct English translation. Google translate is always wonky with Thai but it will get the point across fairly well https://www.thaipbs.or.th/news/content/342842
