Favorite Resident Evil Games

Hello people in my computer, I've been playing a bunch of Resident Evil lately and I'm wondering what your guys' favorite RE game is?

So far mine is RE8, because I fucking love the horror sequence in House Beneviento

I really love the general sense of helplessness created by having your gear taken away with the added build-up of horror as you solve the puzzle and have to face Ethan's fears and traumas as a character with having to actively take apart a mannequin build to resemble his (thought to be dead) wife and face his fear of his daughter dying all culminating in the final bit of horror with the lights going out and you having to face the fucked up manifestation of his fears with the weird ass fetus worm you can only run from.The atmosphere and build-up to it is probably some of the most effective horror I have ever experienced :)

ohh the house beneviento part is soo good in village but im really partial to resident evil VII since the vibe of being locked in a house with a murdering psycho is both so fucking scary to me and sooo fun from a gameplay/story perspective. i think the intro the biohazard is one of the best introductions to a horror game ive seen with the dinner scene and everything

Oh yeah, I 100% see where you're coming from. RE7 really does feel like a love letter to horror in general. It's filled with references to so much stuff.
In general, Resident Evil 7's obsession with rot as a central theme in its horror was so fucking good. While other Resident Evil games certainly used decay as a theme to enhance the atmosphere, 7 really perfected it.

I'd also probably either recommend RE2 or 7 as a first into the series :)
